Rosie Thompson joins Arts Thread at DESIGNERSBLOCK

Rosie Thompson (Surface Design Graduate 2011) will be joining ARTS THREAD at this year’s DESIGNERSBLOCK to display some of her unique and innovative projections.

Rosie developed the work as part of her Final Major project.
'I really wanted to push the boundaries of what a surface could be, questioning why does a surface have to be permanent, could it be temporary? I wanted something sustainable, that didn’t want a lot of waste with my final products. This is why I have used light as my material, it becomes a surface that you can change as often as you like. The animation allows the designs to flow and to tell a story, being as literal or as abstract as desired.'

Rosie set up the GREENSHED group during her final year of study. The group, made up of students from across the course, devised ways in which to reduce waste and energy use within the Red Shed Studio and Workshops at Bucks New University.
